Carole is a lawyer nearing retirement after a long career that has included private practice, federal public service, and property management. She has had a profound bilateral hearing loss since a household accident at age 4. She started to wear hearing aids at age 5, and since her early 50’s she has been enjoying life with one hearing aid on the right ear, and a cochlear implant on the left ear.

Carole is a past president of the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association (CHHA), and the current president of CHHA’s Foundation. She is also currently a special advisor for the International Federation of Hard of Hearing People (IFHOH) and the editor of the IFHOH Journal. She has a great deal of experience mentoring young lawyers, as well as people with disabilities., including persons living with hearing loss.

Most of all, Carole enjoys people, and believes that mentoring is a shared learning experience for both the mentor and the participant. Carole is fully bilingual (French and English) and is happy to work in either or both languages. She also has extensive experience in diversity and multiculturalism. She lives in the province of Quebec, has a son and a daughter, and three lovely grandchildren.
