The Marilyn Dahl Award of Merit

Formerly known as the Award of Merit, the name change was introduced at the 1994 Annual General Meeting. This change reflects both the commitment to CHHA and the many accomplishments of Marilyn Dahl. As third President of CHHA she served three terms from 1986 to 1992 – significant years of growth and strengthening of the organization. This award reflects the spirit of dedication in which Marilyn serves CHHA.

The Marilyn Dahl Award of Merit recognizes a hard of hearing member of CHHA who has contributed outstanding service to the work of the association at the National, Chapter (provincial/territorial) or Branch level.

  • Nominees should have a minimum of ten (10) years of membership service in CHHAOR
  • Nominees should have at least five (5) years of Executive and/or Board experience at the National, Chapter (provincial/territorial) or Branch level where such existsAND/OR
  • Where feasible, the nominee should continue to contribute extraordinary or unique service for hard of hearing persons, ie. founding President, continuing President for several terms, distinguished leadership, a long-term initiator and developer of new programs such as noise awareness, speechreading etc. for persons of any age group

This award may be given when a member has reached a milestone event in his or her life, such as retirement, moving, illness or other significant circumstance.

Award Requirements

Nominations must include a pertinent biological sketch, of no more than 500 words, of the nominee and a complete description of the nominee’s activity to be awarded.
