Do you want to make a positive, impactful difference in the lives of the millions of Canadians who have hearing loss? The Canadian Hard of Hearing Association (CHHA), the leading consumer advocacy organization representing the needs of nearly 4-million Canadians impacted by hearing loss, is inviting applications to our National Board of Directors.

CHHA educates, informs, and inspires our members to establish the best communication strategy to meet their individual needs. CHHA National advocates on behalf of its members to improve awareness and legislation that affects those with hearing loss.

Building on our strengths and coast-to-coast network, we are looking for volunteers to sit on the National Board of Directors who will help to keep the confidence of our members by providing quality advocacy, outreach and service programs built on our shared values.

With proven sensitivity to working in a culturally diverse environment, board members ideally bring knowledge of hearing loss issues. The majority of the board comprises people who live with hearing loss or have a child with hearing loss.

General duties and responsibilities:

  • To participate in the development and monitoring of long-term plans for the organization through our strategic plan.
  • Participate in implementing and improving upon the policies of our organization.
  • Ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Attend and actively participate in board meetings (approximately six meetings per year, currently held virtually.)
  • Serve on a minimum of one committee of the board and work independently to promote CHHA National’s work and our networks across the country.
  • Board members to serve a three-year term.

As a national organization with a cross Canada mandate, we are looking for volunteers representing our country’s vast diversity of people and geography. We are seeking volunteers with knowledge and skills related to finance, advocacy, and program delivery. Individuals who have hearing loss or are a parent of someone with hearing loss are strongly encouraged to apply.
