Nicola Carter

Young Adult Representative
Board Member Since 2023

Nicola Carter started to develop a progressive bilateral sensorineural hearing loss at the age of 5, and her education suffered from it. Until Nicola went to a specialized high school, and later received cochlear implants at 16, she was falling behind in school due to the lack of resources available for the differently abled. This pushed Nicola to do her degree in education and she aspires to work towards improving resources that were not available in her formative years.

After university, Nicola wanted to travel, so she founded EveryDayDreamers – a digital media company. 23 countries and 4 years later, her entrepreneurial work was rewarded with a spot in the BC 30 under 30 in 2022. Having her first company mostly running on autopilot, Nicola is now looking to get back to her roots and help create more resources for hard of hearing individuals. Nicola helped form the Young Adult Network within CHHA (CHHA YAN) 15 years ago and has been involved with their activities for much of the last year as a Director. She looks forward to representing CHHA YAN at the CHHA National Board and hopes to advocate for the appropriate resources for young people.
