I am 66 years old and I live in Dieppe, New Brunswick. I hold a Master's Degree in Public Administration. I am presently retired from the Federal Government after 27 years of service in Management and Public Relations.

Fifteen years ago, I lost my hearing overnight. Needless to say I was devastated. It was as if I had hit a brick wall. I did not know where to turn to. My level of loss is profound. Soon after my onset of hearing loss, someone introduced me to the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association. Since then, I have been very active with the organisation. I am presently the President of our local Branch in Moncton.

Recently, being the only bilingual speech reading instructor in Canada, I was asked to train participants to become Speech Reading Instructors in the province in Québec. I am very pleased to say it was a true success as this was the very first time such training was offered in French.

Like many hard of hearing individuals speech reading a tool that I use on a daily basis.

Besides my involvement with CHHA, I am a Regional Coordinator for Go Ahead Seniors. Our mandate is to empower older adults to take actions that will lead to a better quality of life.

By becoming a member of the National Board, I am confident that my work experience in management and in public relations can contribute greatly towards the growth of the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association.

Also, being fully bilingual will be a big asset especially when it involves reaching out to the French communities as we need to be visible and fully accessible to all people living with a hearing loss across Canada.

Finally, I want to take part in the growth and development of CHHA. I firmly believe in team work and transparency: Together we can make a difference!
