Louise was born with a hearing loss, diagnosed in her late teens as it became more profound. Currently very happy with her cochlear implant, she has been working in the Employment Equity field at Canadian Heritage since 1993 and has been in the Public Service for over 20 years. Louise understands very well the challenges involved in working with a disability and has been an ardent supporter of persons with disabilities, particularly those with a hearing loss, all her working life. She has been a CHHA member for over ten years and has been on the Board of Directors for four of these 10 years. She is the Chair of the Human Rights Committee and of the Francophone Committee and participates in numerous other subcommittees. She has been an ardent advocate for the promotion of captioning within the federal public service and is Co-Chair of the National Committee of Federal Public Servants with Disabilities. Louise likes to remind everyone that in life, we don't get what we deserve, we get what we negotiate... so "just do it!"
