Beverly is honored to apply for a director's position on the National Board of the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association/L'association des malentendants Canadiens (CHHA-AMEC) for 2004-2007. She was born with a moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss and has worn hearing aids since Grade 3. Her hearing loss has not prevented her from doing things important to her. Beverly has been involved with hearing issues since 1979 when she joined the NWT Council for Disabled Persons. The early eighties resulted in her obtaining membership to the Canadian Hearing Society and SHHH. She became involved with CHHA in 1990 and has been an active member of CHHA - Yellowknife Branch since 1995, currently as Past President. Beverly joined CHHA National as a Board Member in the 1997-2000 term. She returned to the board in 2003, upon the resignation of their National Representative Veronica Sandhal. To Beverly, there is nothing more satisfying than helping another hard of hearing person to discover their potential and to have limitless possibilities regardless of hearing loss. Thus her vision for CHHA is to continue to reach those individuals struggling with their hearing loss and to give them a life worthy of living whether at work or at play, and to help them become proactive members of society.
